Arc Raiders Live Update 1.39.0 — Defensive PvP Matchmaking Change & Trinket Stacking
Patch 1.39.0 tests a significant change to matchmaking: only the fights you choose to start will influence your playstyle estimate, defending your squad won't affect it at all. Trinkets introduced with the Converging Paths project now stack like standard trinkets, Seeker and Wolfpack Grenade damage is fixed, and Dam Battlegrounds and Buried City get another round of collision and clipping fixes.
Matchmaking: Testing Defensive PvP
Defending No Longer Affects Your Playstyle Estimate
Embark is testing a new matchmaking model: only the fights you choose to start will influence your playstyle estimate, and defending yourself won't affect it at all. Previously, defensive actions counted toward the estimate with reduced weight.
How Defending Is Determined
If the other squad damages, downs, or knocks out any of your squadmates first, your whole squad counts as defending. Longer firefights with more damage and downs carry more weight toward the aggressor's estimate; brief exchanges still count as starting a fight but with minimal impact. Joining an existing fight between other squads counts as starting a fight.
Solo/Duo/Trio Tracking Still Active
The separate Solo, Duo, and Trio matchmaking tracking introduced in 1.36.0 and the optimizations from 1.38.0 remain in place. Embark is monitoring performance metrics and gathering community feedback through surveys as this change rolls out.
